Summer Book Swap

I recently participated in my first ever book swap!

It was really simple and super exciting! The hosts, American Honey & Life with Rosie, made the rules easy to follow. They assigned each participant a buddy and all we had to do was fill a package with a beach read, a book from our partner’s (or buddy’s) wish list, a book that we thought our partner would love, and any other goodies we wanted to add!

I was paired with the blogger, Pellerini! I was so excited to find out what someone that barely knew me would pick for me to read! I love finding new authors and books by recommendation. As a matter of fact a few years ago, I was in need of a good book to read, when I friend recommended her husbands favorite book, Ender’s Game. It wasn’t a book I would normally pick off the shelf, and one I wouldn’t pick to read on my own, but I trusted her advice and gave it a try. I loved it! I ended up reading the book in just two days. By stepping out of my normal comfort zone I had the opportunity to explore something new. It was about a year (or two) after I finished reading the book when the movie came out, my husband was super excited that I actually wanted to go see the movie. He thought he would have to beg and plead to get me to go.

My Books:

The House I Loved by Tatiana De Rosnay: This book was on my wish list. One of her earlier books, Sarah’s Key, is one of my favorite books!

Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand by Helen Simonson: This book was also on my wish list. It was recommended by a friend.

and

Ruby by Cynthia Bond. This book was the one that my buddy had recently finished reading and enjoyed.

So far I love all three. I have a tendency to start a new book on a whim, even when I am not finished with the last. I will jump from book to book. It drives my husband nuts because I normally have a books out everywhere! Since I also have a little one, my days of curling up with a book outside and reading all day are a vague memory. So now I read bits and pieces of each book when I get a chance!

Thank you to my buddy and the wonderful hostesses! I had a blast and I am super excited to see how these books end! I look forward to the next book swap I can participate in!
